    About Us

NetLab is a research laboratory of the School of Communication of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) dedicated to internet and social media studies. New technologies, metadata and algorithms influence every part of everyday life. We believe that it is necessary to bring together a multidisciplinary research effort to investigate how society has been building and adapting to these innovations.

    Our Work

Our work is to investigate how new technologies, metadata and algorithms influence the public sphere and multiple fields of society. For that, we seek to combine a research approach with traditional elements, contemporary innovations and interdisciplinary perspectives - a challenge that requires an integration between theoretical foundations, statistical tools and efficient algorithms.

    Research Tracks

Our Research Tracks are organized into five key areas in which new digital network relationships have generated significant effects on the social, economic, cultural and political life of Brazil and of the world. We are constantly evolving and developing new fronts of study and research. Get in touch to learn more and register below to have access to our work first hand.
